For a few years now I've been a faithful firefox user. Internet Explorer never really appealed to me, and has too many security issues to bother hassling with. By contrast Firefox has always been a solid, and dependable web browser.

So when a friend of mine suggested that I try a web browser called ,Opera, I was rather unenthusiastic. After all, Firefox handled my casual browsing rather well, was readily customizable with all the plugins Mozilla offered.

After installing Opera though, I was blown away with all of the novel features it boasted. Apparently Opera, which had pioneered tabbed browsing way back in 2000, includes several browsing features that make moving through the internet far more efficient. One such feature, called "Speed Dial", allows you to define your 9 favorite websites for easy access. Whenever you open a new tab, or first open Opera, you're presented with thumbnails of these sites, which you can double click to navigate to them automatically. You don't even have to bother with looking through your bookmarks or favorites!

Even more revolutionary is Opera's mouse gestures feature. With mouse gestures, you can navigate web pages, switch tabs, open new links, and more with some simple mousemovements, rather than fumbling with the forward and backward navigation keys. For example, you can just hold down the right mouse button, and move the scroll wheel, which prompts a smart menu allowing for faster switching between tabs.

All of these added browsing schemes as well as other features like notes, and some neat widgets, made the choice clear. In short, I ditched firefox for the Opera web browser. Heh, I hope I didn't bore anybody with this, but Opera was so cool I had to tell somebody. If anyone's interested there's a link below to the website.
